Frequently Asked Questions
What sets GAMC apart from other camps in the area?
Experts agree that playing music at a young age enhances aptitude for math, language, and social skills. At GA Music Camp, children participate in a variety of fun and educational activities; they learn composition and theory skills in theory class, how to play and collaborate in ensemble groups, and instrument-specific knowledge that can help them improve even after camp. They also play fun games that improve their aural and rhythmic skills.
Who are your Camp Counselors?
Our camp counselors are professional, working musicians and music teachers with years of experience. They are highly skilled musicians and educators with a genuine love of teaching. All of our staff and faculty members are background-checked and certified in a safe child education program.
My child doesn’t play any instruments. Can he/she still attend Camp?
Yes! No previous experience in music is required to join the Beginning Music Camp. When campers arrive, they will be placed in one of our beginning classes and provided with an instrument for use during Camp.
What are the Camp times and dates?
Camp Adventures will run from June 10th-14th 2019.
The camp will be from 9:00 am-12:00 pm.
What are the recommended ages for Beginning Camp?
Beginning camp is recommended for elementary school kids, ranging from 7-14 years old. Complete beginners are welcome, as well as students with a few years of playing experience.
The Camp is comprised of both students who have been playing for 1 year or more and who have a comfortable mastery of their instrument, as well as beginning students who have never played a guitar. Campers are typically aged 7 years to 17 years. If a student has never attended GA Music Camp before and is 14 years or older, they must have had guitar tutoring and must read music. These students will be tested in order to be placed at the appropriate level in the camp.
What is the cost of GAMC?
GA Music Camp session is $175 (5 partial days).
Does my child need to bring his/her own instrument?
GA Music Camp provides rental guitars for new students to use while at Camp. We also rent guitars at the rate of $20.00 for the week plus a $15.00 deposit. This rental is for the new camper that wants to take the guitar home in the evening in order to practice for the next day. If your child wants to join our camp but doesn’t own an instrument, please let us know ahead of time and we can reserve an instrument for them.
Can you accommodate early drop off or late pick up?
Yes! Students can arrive 15 minutes before camp begins. And parents will have a 15 minute grace period for pick up at the end of the camp day. We are not certified to provide childcare, so we rely on prompt pickup.
What if we need to cancel? Will I get a refund?
If written cancellation is received prior to the beginning of camp (email is acceptable), all tuition minus $75.00 cancellation fee will be refunded. No refunds will be offered once camp begins.
